To understand the motion concept, you should first realize that there are two types of motion the simplest type which is in one dimension, on a straight line horizontally and vertically.

Motion in 2 dimension
The complex types which is in 2 dimensions and more. For example, circular motion and projectile motion as figures 1.1 and 1.2 shown below.
